Arsenal coach Arsene Wenger has confirmed the addition of two players to the squad this summer.
SampNews24 reveal that one of the top reasons that delayed the deal of long term target Shkodran Mustafi. The German was supposed to have arrived at the Emirates earlier, but a lengthy transfer holdup delayed the move. The news report claims one of the top reasons was the ten percent share Mustafi’s club were going to pay Sampdoria.
When Sampdoria allowed the transfer of the World Cup winner to Valencia, they added a clause that required they received a share from his eventual deal. The Italian club would earn at least £3.5 million from the £35 million the North London club paid for Mustafi. The singing along with the yet-to-be-announced deal for Lucas Perez gives the Arsenal squad a boost, even as Wenger has defended his moves were not to appease fans.
On one Arsenal squad, there could be Cech in goal, Koscielny and Mustafi in central defence, Bellerin and Monreal at the sides. Summer marquee signing Granit Xhaka could play front of the defender, with Cazorla, Ramsey and Ozil in the middle, Alexis and Perez could appear in front. However, in another combination, Ospina could start, Rob Holding could pair with Chambers, Gibbs and Jerkinson at the back. Elneny and Coquelin could play in front of the backline. Oxlade-Chamberlain, Wilshere and Walcott could play behind an Olivier Giroud leading the attack.
The combinations just bring excitement to the Emirates, especially with the injury crisis slowing the start of the season. There are domestic cup games, the Premier League and European tournaments, so the depth is a real source of joy to fans. Per Mertesacker, Gabriel, Gnabry and Welbeck are poised to return at various times, but the future of the team isn’t bleak.
