Spanish defender Nacho Monreal has said that Arsenal are extremely lucky to have a manager like Arsene Wenger, who he regards as one of the best in the world. He also paid tribute to his former manager at Malaga, Manuel Pellegrini, by saying that he is also a great manager. Monreal was only recently signed by Arsenal for around £ 8 million. The defender has managed to get some regular game time in the season. He has spoken highly of Wenger by saying that he is an excellent motivator who is able to get the best out of his players.
Arsenal have not managed to win a trophy for the last eight years, but they have been making a profit in the last few years in a consistent basis. The club are expected to have no trouble is meeting the UEFA financial fair play regulations. The 27-year-old, Monreal, has been able to settle without any major problems in the Premier league. He has said that the confidence given by Wenger is a major reason towards it. Monreal has also spoken in place of midfielder Jack Wilshere by saying that he is extremely influential in the team. Even though he is very young, it feels like he is the linchpin of the team.
“Arsene Wenger is Arsenal’s linchpin. Everything goes through him. He’s a motivator. He gave me confidence by putting me in the team as soon as I arrived. He’s so young, but it’s as if he’d been around forever. Bale was named player of the season this year and he’s the reason Tottenham was in the running for the Champions League until right to the end. The Spanish media have linked him with Real Madrid or Barcelona, but I don’t see it. Spurs will do everything they can to keep him,” said Monreal.
