Arsenal’s latest acquisition from Spain – Santi Cazorla – has said that he wants to bring an end to the trophy drought Arsenal have been experiencing the last eight seasons. Arsenal last lifted the Premier league trophy back in 2004. Since then, they have only the FA Cup trophy to their credit.

During this period, the Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger shifted his transfer policy to bringing in many youngsters to the youth team squad, who would be promoted to the first-team. However, departure of key players every summer has meant that the team has been lacking in experience needed to win the Premier league title.

It’s meant fans have had to make do with the same arsenal tshirts for years and years now!

The last two seasons has been subtly different because Arsenal have been spending a lot of money on experienced players like Mikel Arteta. The 27-year-old Santi Cazorla becomes another signing in the same way after the club has paid a reported £ 17 million in transfer fees for the Spanish international. The Spanish squad member comes from the Malaga team in Spain. Even though the club are expected to sell the likes of Robin van Persie and Theo Walcott in the summer, the additions of Lukas Podolski and Santi Cazorla will certainly make huge changes to the Arsenal team.

“I’m so happy to be joining Arsenal. This is a club with great players, a fantastic stadium and huge support. The club has one of the best managers in football and their style of play is recognised and admired all over the world. I’m so excited to be joining one of the greatest teams in Europe and to be playing in the Premier League. I have spoken to Robert Pires because he played with me at Villarreal. Obviously he knew about the rumours of me coming here and always encouraged me to sign,” said the Spanish international after signing for the club.
